Mining company works in environmental preservation

The mining company Petaquilla has being implementing a new model of sustainable development that includes the execution of mitigation works, prevention, compensation and environmental education provided by national regulation.

Chiara Ramos, manager of the Environment and Hydrology Department, stated that since the beginning of this mitigation program they have invested thousands of dollars and it is being developed because of the impact associated with the development of the mine.

The mining company in pro of conserving the nature of the area has planted over 2 thousand trees in the five areas included in the project. The project also considers education on the areas of adequate recycling and management of solid waste, re-vegetation and re-sowing for erosion control and the stabilization of cutting slopes and fillings along the access roads of the mining project and the surrounding area of the Llano Grande-Coclesito road, Farallon road, Villa del Carmen road and the Nazareth-Molejon Road.
